Sounds overly simplistic but how about creating an affidavit saying you lost your passport, then, apply for a new one with the Russian embassy?

You better go to the Russian embassy soon and get their help.

It smells like it was stolen, not lost. And besides, let's suppose the embassy issues a new passport. My visa which is with the Bureau of Immigration now will indicate totally different passport series and number. And they would rip me off again to secure a new visa with another passport number on it, and so it will go on forever.

what is the anme of your company? if i were you i will go to Russian embasy to let them know wht happened to your passport, you netter explain to them the exact story so they can give you advise what to do or they will call the attention of your employer. I cant see any reasons why they have to steal your passport and to tell you tht it is in the good hands just to make you calm. Go and talk to the russian embasy they will help you since you are russian.

"The name of my company" would be moderated immediately. And besides, they would immediately kick me out if they discover that. If I wanted publicity, I'd rather go for CNN and tell them my story. There should be a local CNN or BBC office here. But that's the last resort. Just remember guys, Philippines is not for equal employment opportunity, it's for business. It was an idiot's idea to seek for employment here.

So you have been in Phils working here since Sep. you have now overstayed your trip and are here illegally and can be deported immediately. Best advice is to go to your embassy and explain the situation.

I received a letter from the BI approving my working visa prior to handing over my passport. You are going through a fixer, again an illegal process so you dont have much basis to complain.

Dear Peter, When we face any personal bad experience in a country we out-rightly tell "this country is bad!" But if we do not face such incident, until something bad occurs we label it as a 'good country' But the problem is not with the country. We can not label a country as good or bad. Problem is that there are bad, cruel inhuman people everywhere. Unfortunately your employer was under that worst category.
If you are legal in this country and if you were not into any bad attitude towards your employer when you were working to them, you have every rights to take action against them.

My working visa HAD been approved in August, and it's ready for claiming, the BI officers told me. It's that my passport is not with me, please read carefully what I'm saying. Deportation? Man, I'm terrified Going to surrender myself tomorrow, I won't be the one paying the deportation expenses anyway. And may I ask you how are they going to deport me without any documents?

Dear Mal, thank you for the support. I'd rather not start a discussion about the country I was once in love with, it's another story, off-topic. I'm quite legal, I can assure you, even published a couple of articles in local media

Yes, I do have a limited number of local friends... The last moment update: The attorney or whoever he is, just delivered my passport to the office; the working visa is in place. The conclusion: if you keep waiting and don't make noise everything is going to take forever! Administrator, please delete this post later tonight, the problem has been solved. Im from philippines and i agree with you, that is why im not seeking oppurtunity from my own country. i decided to work overseas atleast i got paid here which is enough to have some extra savings and to support my family as well.

Flamed out a few days ago, as expected. No return ticket, of course.

Guys, need your advice where to look for an NGO related work here in Manila. I worked with an NGO back in Russia. My current situation is not good. The man power agencies which post job ads saying that they are in need of "Russian speaking specialists" either reply with HUGE delay or do not have REAL employers. Of course, the company I worked for kicked me out from their apartment, so if I don't find a job within a week, I'll be living under the bridge! Please, if you yourself with an NGO or multinational which might need a native Russian, please pm me.
