Health Insurance and your SS Medicare... to drop or not to drop?

Andy_1963

Why would you like to give money to Philhealth? Have you seen a public hospital in the province? I save the money and in case I would need a hospital, I would go to a private one (complex things in Manila or Cebu).

Excuse me Andy but what are you talking about?

I don't like to give money to anyone but PH for me @ P17K per annum is cheap insurance unlike private insurers.

My local hospital is private (Lorma private hospital) and yes like all hospitals PH is part of the gig. An example, Bens mother was in hospital (Lorma) for over 5 weeks (Covid) and sadly passed away, the bill was like 1.4M after PH 400K was wiped off, perhaps more but my way of thinking is the minimal cost to hold verses the dying in the street not having for admittance and if you survive, the renumeration from PH with the bill. Do the math. I keep 40/50K AU set aside for hospital earning 5% interest so my return is say AU 2.2K per year while PH costs me AU 470 bucks a year. Private health insurers will give you nothing and take you nowhere, I know that from Australia, Ben and I were 5K per year. Best to save your money and hedge your bets with a 30% discount.

OMO.

Cheers, Steve.
