Hi and welcome to the forum islandmike669.

Not a Manila type person myself so perhaps you could suggest if you have any destinations in mind for settling/visiting in the future so folks here know your plans and if they can help.

Good luck with the move.

Cheers, Steve.

Hi Islandmike and welcome,

I too is moving back to my native land where I was born. I could agree more with bigpearl, Not a city person myself. Manila is probably worst place on my list or any other big city. Just my one cent. Best of luck to you and family. xD

Welcome to the forum islandmike669.

This forum is a good place to start getting info help you navigate around the customs/traditions/behaviors you'll encounter in the Philippines. Keep an open mind and all the best to your move.

Thanks for the heads up ! Manila just my initial point of entry until I can fan out into the provinces and get a feel for what suits me best. I'm a business guy so I will be expanding my business into the Phillipines market and that's a consideration for my media business. But, I'd like to know some areas you suggest I busy and check out. It will take time to settle in and I'm open to all suggestions. Thanks

Hey Jackson, thanks ! Any provinces or cities you might suggest I visit or check out is most welcomed. It will take time to settle into the right areas I'm sure. So I'm definitely opened minded.

Hi again island mike. Question, have you ever been to the Philippines? It might look small but there is plenty to see and do, You need to travel and taste the sites and flavours, the cultures and all the foibles here. For some it's an acquired taste while the likes of me I'm in my element and never looked back.

For me I started working in southern Luzon (Cam Sur) 14 odd years ago years ago where I met my better half, spent 8 years holidaying and different destinations in PH. over those years and we finally retired to La Union 6 years ago on the beach, reason? My partners family and though we are 40 minutes away by car to them suits us both very nicely........... Mike if I was a single man I would have retired in south west Europe. Funny the turns in life.

As for running any sort of business here I suggest you do copious amounts of research no matter the business. Good luck.

Enjoy the Philippines.

Cheers, Steve.

Question, have you ever been to the Philippines?

As ever this is what I refer to as 'the elephant in the room' question the answer to which we all hope will be in the affirmative.

To the OP. You say you are in the media business? What does this mean exactly? Could be the 'sandwich board' guy from the 1930's who walked up and down the street promoting various businesses on his back or perhaps you are thinking big and considering the launch of a new radio or TV station? Please don't state that you are a 'digital creator' like 50% of Filipinas do on social media..
