Return plane ticket yes or no that is the question

Wayne 07

I have a question for those who have made the move from the USA to Philippines to live permanent. My time to come there permanent is fast approaching.

One way airfare to the Philippines is very expensive. Anywhere from 3k to 10K. This is usually coach  fare. Getting a round trip ticket is limited also. The websites will only give you about a 6 month turn around. The round trip ticket is cheaper than the one way. I could do the round trip but 6 months is to soon for me to return back. I would consider one year.

I was thinking to buy the round trip ticket. But I wanted to try and extend the return flight to one year. I would love to know if you can get an open return flight and come back when you want to.

My question is what did those who left the USA to come to the P.I. Permanent do with their airfare? What was the best and cheapest way you found to go to the Philippines? What airlines did you use? I use to love Hawaiian airline when they flew to the Philippines. Since the flight is so long I try to flight first class ticket. Any of you used a airline to fly first class and was really pleased with that Airline?

If the cost means that much, why not fly economy class?  I just did roundtrip from Newark NJ to Hong Kong and then Hong Kong to Manila on Cathay Pacific at a cost of $1,327.  If I can take a 14 hour 48 minute flight in ten across economy at age 65 surely you can take a shorter flight from California.  The exit ticket does not have to be back to the USA, just get a cheap one to Hong Kong or some other nearby place  Funny thing when I got off the plane after the 94 minutes flight from HK to Manila I only had a small carry on, told the customs agent I was visiting wife and family and would be leaving in 3 weeks he stamped my passport and waved me through, never asked to see proof of my exit

Yes, you will need another ticket in 179 days to show customs when you show up again.  If you do it with your Filapino citizen wife she can get your passport stamped balikbayan and you have a year until you have to pull the same deal with your wife.  Also balikbayan means you never have to extend any visa or pay anything extra to stay a year.

thanks, but if you read phil. gov. website. philippina wife has to had to be out of country for at least 1 yr to get you the bilibong visa, or how ever you spell it. everyone says this, but not true.  have you tried for 103a yet?

I have a 13a visa, so I can stay in the country as long as I want without having to leave. I applied for this and got it before Leaving to the Philippines.
