LTVP - resident status

rose2000

Hi all,

I am a SC and I am trying to find out more about LTVP+ for my husband. Both of us currently reside in Australia but are looking to move back to Sg. Can we apply for LTVP+ while living overseas? We are looking to return to Singapore once he gets the visa and look for employment here.

Thanks in advance for your responses.

The DE Number is required to fill out the LTVP application. You'll only get this number at the immigration when entering Singapore.

As far as I know, an LTVP can be applied for spouses of SCs while still abroad - but please check this with ICA!

They might ask for proof of your intended move - and how both your living costs would be covered once here (given that the foreign spouse will not be allowed to work on LTVP).

ICA decides wheher an LTVP or LTVP+ is given - but the difference is small enough to not matter much!

To work, your spouse would have to apply for an LoC at MoM after the LTVP is issued and he found a job. It is not assured that one is given. Many companies dislike hiring LTVP holders on LoC (due to the added risk and uncertainty), so he would be at a disadvantage compared to having his own work pass.

@rose2000 hi if you apply ltvp under spouse visa DE number is a must and the only way you can have the DE number is when you come in sg.. Ltvp + is same application with the Ltvp you will only know either you get ltvp or Ltvp+ after the comple tion of formalities in ica .
