Need help with S Pass rejection

mmkamal

Hello everyone, this is Mahmoud, i'm a 29 years old Editor from Egypt.

I got a job offer in Singapore from a big multinational company, my basic salary is 5K SG$ + annual bonus. I have 6 years of related experience and a bachelor's degree in communication from an Egyptian university, never had any legal problems or any problems related to countries' entry. MOM says there was something wrong with my background check but didn't state what it was exactly.

MOM test said that i'm only eligible for S Pass although I have a good salary for EP.

I'm a frequent traveler and I never had problems with security checks/vetting as I issued visas for many countries in Europe and Asia and never had any problems or made any problems anywhere in the world!

I'm really frustrated, is it because of what is happening in the world and middle easterns and north africans are preferrably avoided? Because that's the situation in many countries.

PS: My employer did a background check before hiring me, and they checked my university degree/professional background and contacted all my previous employer/security check. I already resigned from my job and in a very bad situation.

What do you think I should do?

Apparently, your background (not your race or nationality) does not fulfill MoM's requirements for EP. This could be because they do not recognise your degree, or your university did not confirm that your degree is legit,, or any other issue that causes doubts.
What can you do? Well, either accept the S-Pass (no big deal, as it is almost the same as EP) or look for employment elsewhere.

Have you tried using the SAT?? If yes, what did you get? Did they say that you were eligible for EPass and SPass?

mmkamal

Actually MOM downgraded the application to S Pass (employer applied for both options EP and S Pass) And rejected it.

mmkamal

Thank you for your reply. SAT says i'm eligible for S Pass while employer applied for both options S Pass and EP.

Thanks heaps for your reply. I suspect you might need an EP to get approved? Cos EP is usually for Bachelor degree? Idk maybe I'm wrong

mmkamal

Maybe SAT says i'm eligible for S Pass only because my university is not on the preferred list. I submitted my bachelor's degree and transcripts. But I have all the requirements for EP (Salary, degree and experience) also my sponsoring company is a very big one.

Honestly speaking, I don't care if it's an S Pass or EP I just want to start working, but even the S Pass got rejected with no clear reason! Just says something was wrong in the background check as per my employer's reply.

If even an S-Pass was rejected, then your options are limited.
If your employer really needs you, they can contact MoM and ask for the rejection reasons or ask for a clarifying meeting with the officer in charge (which you can also attend). Then they can appeal against the rejection and submit additional data that rectifies the rejection reason, together with an explanation why they urgently need to hire you and nobody else. (Note: Appealing without this is a waste of time and will be rejected again.)

mmkamal

This is really useful, I didn't know about the option of setting a meeting with the officer. I will contact my employer and see what we can do. Thank you : ))

MoM does not always agree to a meeting, or disclose the rejection reason.
If not, there is nothing more you can do.
All depends on how convincing your employer presents your case.
