Does a DP needs to be cancelled before issuing EP?

I could not find anything exactly on this so apologies if this has been discussed before.

Could someone please advise if a DP needs to be cancelled first before a new EP can be issued to a person.

The person is on DP at present but got new IPA so wondering if existing DP needs to be cancelled before new employer can issue the EP.

Since you have IPA next step will be pass issuance. If in that section it requires you to give information of existing pass give same and pass will be automatically canceled else on issuance of EP the person (with EP) under whom the DP is issued needs to cancel and return the pass . Seems the logical solution. Unless your DP and your EP is connected to same employer in that case let the employer deal with this.
