"extreme hardship" for an F-1 visa to the united States?

RobOtman49

What is considered an "extreme hardship" when it come to the rule regarding that we must meet in person before I can apply to get my love an F-1 visa to the united States? We have been talking online for quite some time now she is a simple women unlike any I have ever met and I would love to have her as my wife not just a friend. I am disabled, I have pets, and I am building a home. All of this would make it difficult to just fly off to Thailand for a month

I would say that just talking online isn't enough for a visa to the US or any other western country. And staying with her in Thailand for a month when meeting her for the first time won't cut it either. That's my humble opinion.

@Leeds forever! Bummer I wonder what to do then if being with her there won't even work

Everything is about the relationship and showing that it's serious. That's the hard part,in my opinion.

Well I'm not finding many answers here I guess I will go to Reno Nevada and talk to an immigration lawyer, thanks for your time

Don't forget that your gf has to apply for the visa in Thailand and that includes an interview, and an immigration lawyer in the US won't be of any help here.

My advice is go there and meet her in person. What's the point of embarking on a procedure to get her into the US if you too have not been in presence of each other? Because many times, (I know some about this) when two people chat online, everything is fine and dandy. But when they meet, the castle crumbles. On either or both sides.

Find a place to "store" your pets, friends or facility and go there.

Everything will be different after. I am not sure what degree of disability you live with, but unless it's palsy, you usually can travel.

Other than that, good luck!

@RobOtman49 I am an American lawyer here, and I would have to say that your chances are very low. But if you still want to give it a shot, you can contact me at ***

I left the USA 4x last year looking for true love, most definitely go meet her in Thailand! How many dates does it take to find true love in your neck of the woods? I made the mistake of going to meet just one girl 3 different times, it was very costly and very frustrating. You can video chat with someone for months but until you spend time together in person you will never really know them. I finally just spent a month in Bangkok dating many different women that I had met online, this is a difficult process but definitely worth it. Just do your research, many scammers online, tell then all that you are broke and live in a tent. Lol. The immigration lawyer was my best investment along with a good personal assistant, this whole process is a document nightmare. Good luck.

@everythingdirt I have found that in Thailand, if you choose to live outside the tourist hotspots such as Pattaya (especially Pattaya), Bangkok, Phuket, etc, people around you will be nice, polite, fair, honest.

But you will have exactly the same issues finding love, a girl here as in your home country.

Especially in the above tourist places it is an industry for girls to find a westerner and rip off their money. There are so many stories. Be aware.

i would recommend find somewhere where you like to live. Where people are good. Find someone outside datingsites. Perhaps it will happen, perhaps not, but at least you have a good place to live.

An F1 visa in the US is a student visa, are you looking to get a K1 fianc矇 visa? If so Id say your odds of getting it without meeting are pretty much 0%.

While Im not an attorney and Ive never tried it, I know others that have. The questions each person was asked (separately btw), photos requested that shows you together and countless other items are a lot and for good reasons. There are so many from around the world that want their ticket to America only to divorce shortly after their paperwork is finalized. I know some that is now on his 3rd person and immigration told him this is the final one they will approve.

I'm not here to judge, not my place but you say youve been talking quite a while online. While you dont need to answer this, but how long is quite a while? Is it video, chat, phone calls and do you have logs of all those calls?

If you look at it from an immigration side, the average amount of time dating in the US is 3+ years and the divorce rate is close to if not over 50%. With a K1 you have 90 days or they have to leave and youre not getting a second bite at the apple.

Again, not hear to judge and its your money for an attorney but think about this and.ask yourself am I in love or lust.

whatever your decision might be, I wish you the best and hope it works out for you
