New members of the Thailand forum, introduce yourselves here - 2019

Hi, single old guy retired and living in Pratumnak Hill (kinda between Jomtien and South Pattaya) area close to the beach. Don't like the neighbourhood (totally dead most of the time) but love the closeness to Dongtan Beach. I lived in Chiang Mai for almost 4 years, then decided I wanted to be near the ocean. I've lived in the Jomtien area for nearly 2 years but had to travel back and forth to Canada a few times but, that chore is done. Here to stay now. I live in a rented condo, drive an e-bike, although I'm hankering for a motorbike as well to go farther-faster etc.
Have a great day.
Can't upload pics, seriously (add url - again, serioulsy?) *checks calendar .... still 2019
Jomtien beach nice I agree but pattaya pretty busy😎

I am Valerie a 35 years old German who settled down to Thailand 8 years ago. In that time I had the opportunity to study Thai and two years later I reached my goal to be an advanced speaker and locale advisor deep rooted in the Thai community in Lamai, Koh Samui. After some interesting online jobs, i start to think about the Real Estate Market and i saw, how fast it was growing, on Samui.

Hi,
I've been a private English Tutor for 6 years. I strongly recommend you start getting experience as soon as you can. Many people think it's just a case of having a chat. Make sure your grammar and vocab knowledge is up to scratch to answer the endless questions. Have patience and be culturally sensitive. If you want to earn good money then the East Asian market is key, they study hard and have high expectations of teachers, especially British ones. I've just started teaching online with Cambly which gives you a crash course and supplements my income when students cancel or go on holiday. It's a fantastic job if you're willing to put the work in and find great materials for your students. Good luck

Hi everyone!
My name is Leana, and I just moved to Bangkok from Melbourne, with my partner who works in engineering here. I am currently looking for the next step in my career in international development. I have just completed a double degree in a Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Global Studies from Monash University in Australia, specialising in International Relations and Environmental Science. In my spare time, I love to cook, practice yoga and meditation, travel and go for hikes in nature!
I am hoping to live in Thailand permanently, and I am seeking advice on working in Bangkok, particularly in the international development sector. I am also open to other types of work too!
Hi guys, I’m 41 year old guy from London, work for a thai firm in London and have been offered to relocate to Bangkok. Have never been to Thailand before.
I am planning on coming first for around 3/4 week and see if I like it there and can handle the hot weather.
Don’t want to stay in a hotel, would rather stay in a apartment.
Can someone please recommend and good area to stay in bkk for a newbie?
And also if there is anyone in the same situation as me it would be great to chat too.
Many thanks guys
Shah

There are appartement opposite lumpini park name is 108 appartments it has 2 buildings, big in front only 1 year rent and smaller behind. Can rent 1 month start around baht 11000 per mnth . This is only one i seen looks ok with airco tv and fridge small bathroom and big bed.

keep looking...there are ones that are a lot cheaper but it depends on your style of living and quality of life you feel you need...live local buy local...is the cheapest..

If you're really thinking of a career in Thailand you should consider getting a Masters from a Thai University program...this will not only look great for your resume/CV but trust is a big thing in TH and this shows they can trust you better...in addition, once you start studying, the chances are they may ask you to teach a course in your field and then you may be getting paid and they can do the paperwork for you... Bangkok University and others have good international programs....and in TH you may want to be in the International Hotel Tourism sector as that is always a growth area. You can check out BU at this link or just google BKK Universities

You want to meet an agent and your contemplating?
I apologies if I am wrong but if you mean a real estate agent your away ahead of yourself
Real estate agents would not be happy to run around the 513,120 sq kilometers of Thailand showing someone who might/maybe move to Thailand.
Are you looking to live by the sea? in the city? The NE of Thailand? North? South? on an Island? You want to rent buy or build? Would help if we knew
Your first move should be where would you like to live the second move make sure you are coming to stay and then find an agent who can find you a place in a few days.
If you want to be shown round Thailand you need a tour guide not an agent

Hi everyone,
Agus here, an Indonesian. Moved here from Bali since November last year. Bali was amazing but it was meant for a good holiday spot only I think.
I would be really happy to connect with anyone especially those who's currently living in Bangkok. It would be nice to meet and have a good conversation with like minded people.
Have a great weekend!

Introduction is very bad, sorry to say, you come from Bali ok and you are indonesia ok that's all i know now .
I am from the Netherlands live in Bangkok 7.5 months a year currently back in Netherlands.
My daughter lives in Lombok and we met last februari on Bali. Over here in the Netherlands have lots of indonesia people, my brother in law is one of them. Whats your plan in Bangkok . Greetings and maybe more conversation soon, Tom.
Owh haha thanks Tom for the judgement, apology accepted!
I should be sad now, knowing that I didn't passed your "Introduction standard".
Good, sounds like you are familiar enough with Bali, should've been a good topic to pick to start a conversation
I am working here now, since November last year. Means, its been 7 months. What do you do here in Bangkok by the way?
Looking forward for more conversation.
Cheers!

At this time i am in the Netherlands and when i am in Bangkok i only help my wife with household and travel to work and back cause Thailand not like the farang to work over there unless it is something Thai cant do. I gues you are lucky if can work but you are from one of the country in the Asean like we have EU and van work anywhere we like over here.
This by the wat was my first reply like this cause i think lots of people use this site but not the wat it should be used.
Have a Nice weekend and good luck in Thailand.
That's correct, as a citizen of one of ASEAN country member, it is easier for us to move anywhere within the ASEAN country (like EU regulations as well). I am quite happy with the association's regulation regarding this issue.
I've been a member of this site since 2015, but just decided to check this forum more active just recently. I definitely have no idea how bad people use this site currently haha,
But I think as long as everyone respect each other and try to help each other as an °µÍø½ûÇøriate community, that's what matter the most. Correct me if I am wrong.
Cheers, A
Hi. I am Jun, Filipino, and a newbie here. Currently working in a construction Company based in Banglamung Chonburi.
Hello!
Been a member for a while but never used this forum much. I figured I'd give it a go. Been in Thailand nearly 20 years now. It's a lovely place most of the time but sometimes it can be a bear to wrap your head around. That part always remains, even if just a tad.
I have family here and live in Samutprakarn. If, I'm around I am always willing to help another °µÍø½ûÇø with questions if they're new to Thailand.
Kind Regards
Jack
Hello, Roger here from Oklahoma. Retired and planning a visit to meet my beautiful Thai lady friend. If everything goes as we hope I’ll be staying in Thailand. I’ve been reading and watching videos and can’t wait to get there. Only hope is I can stand the heat. I’d love to meet other °µÍø½ûÇøs who get together to watch American football games in Bangkok.
Long-term °µÍø½ûÇø with 18 years in Thailand. Lived in a few places but decided to settle just outside Pattaya. Have had various businesses from Real Estate, Development, Magazine Publisher to an owner of a software development company that produces a charity shopping app called Jaidee App. Great place to live and work if you learn the ropes of what to do and not do.
Happy to help with advice wherever and whenever I can.
Hi everyone, I am moving over to Thailand in August.. I’m going to be working just outside of Pattaya.
I am currently looking for the best area to live in and which also has a big °µÍø½ûÇø community. I am sporty, played a lot of football in England, so would be looking for any local football teams?
Hi I’m Chad - have visited Thailand a few times these last few years, now looking for English lessons for my Thai GF, preferably in chiang mai but will consider bkk as last resort if that’s the only way to get the lessons from an American English speaker. Please message me if you know of any English classes/teachers in chiang mai who are from the USA. Haven’t been able to find this using google. Thanks.
Hello Everyone. Rob in Bangkok. Been here for a few months, working on setting up some business relationships. If anyone here wants to connect please let me know!
Hi Guys. I am a South African, working in Johannesburg, South Africa. I'm a 35 year old single father to an 11 year old son (pull my hair out). My aim is for us to be completely relocated to Thailand by the end of 2019.
I have worked in Hospitality for the majority of my life, looking for work in Hotels, Resorts, Clubs, any and all Hospitality fields to be honest.
Really excited to get a fresh start in Thailand and meeting all you °µÍø½ûÇøs over there
Hi Everyone, My Husband and myself are moving over to Phuket in September and will be running a small 10 cottage resort, Any advice in general would be gladly accepted
Hi everyone!
My name is Kirk.
I've been coming to SE Asia every year, spending more and more time there each visit.
Planning to travel to Vietnam late Feb/2020, spend 3 months there, then head into Thailand on an O-A multiple-entry retirement visa. Good for 1 year, and extendable.
Been thinking very hard and planning this for about 5 or 6 years. I think I must have watched over 3000 YouTube videos....haha!!! Great way to get some good information, and also some bad information.
When I get to Thailand, I'm not positive yet where I'll be located. There is still places I would like to see.
I'm thinking Chiang Rai or Chiang Mai for about 1/2 the year, then when it gets smokey, head down to the Cha Am area.
I've visited many places and Islands. Cha Am, Hua Hin, Rayong, Mae Phim, Ko Samed, Ko Samuii, Ko Phnagan, Chiang Rai, Chiang Mai, Phuket, Pattaya, to name a few........
I'll be on an average budget. Only get a partial pension now, as I am not 65 yet. Need to make my savings last for a few years.
Giving up my apartment here in BC, and going to rent a local storage locker to keep necessities in, in case I return. In a few more years I can decide whether to come back, or stay in SE Asia. I really like to travel, and love SE Asia. Spent time in Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, and Thailand. Might see more countries, unsure.
That's it in a nutshell! Hope everyone is doing well.
Have a great day !

i am Paul from Singapore, just reach Bangkok on Monday. Am here helping my company to start and drive a new internet portal for foreign owners. (Hope this is not marketing)
was having a little culture shock initially as most people are walking way faster than me, and i have also unknowingly selected an interesting hotel to stay in
why u do that?
Florin, Canada
do what? select a hotel? i was actually a little allergic to construction dust. and was a little sick.. so just randomly and quickly chosen a hotel on agoda before checking location, when i realised my previous selection was facing a HUGE construction
It is interesting that you find people here walk faster, really contradicted with what I found.
means i am a slower walker? or probably am not so fit physically
