Ever been down this road?

After my girlfriend of nine years died suddenly this past February from complications due to TB, I held hands with the family at her cremation. Her sister told me that her mortgage was insured with a life insurance policy. The family stood to make over three hundred thousand dollars to pay off the farm we had mortgaged. She asked me what part I wanted since the farm had been ours. Her sister was divorced with two kids under ten. Her mom sold sweets on the street to make ends meet. I said I didn't want anything.
But my denial, my denial. I have no idea how many there were, but I got a girl pregnant.
At 62 years old I don't mind paying child support. Can you believe the girl got my last name from Facebook?
Just I have reservations about giving the baby my last name.
The American embassy, Thai immigration, what happens if the mother dies?
Does anyone know about the right approach?

I think at your age the right approach would be to relax and not think too much. In Thailand things like this happen everyday and things work out.
