A newbie to Bangkok says hello

LeeCh

Hi

I'm Lee, just moved here from England.

I'm hoping to teach English as a second language whilst I'm here - I start a course tomorrow. The social side of life is more than a little dead so I though I'd say hello here.

Looking really to meet anyone and anyone, I'm here to broaden my experiences and outlook on life so I'm really up for meeting anyone and everyone for a good time.

Cheers
Lee

Mwahahah! A new soul to corrupt

Welcome to Bangkok dude.
So whereabouts your staying in this crazy city? and what you normally like to do on weekends or free time?

We regularly have meetings on Fridays to go out and party like maniacs. (And I usually go out also on weekdays - as a traditional party animal-)
So at mid week ( party for friday) we will send you a private message on the meeting point and time if you wanna come along.

:)

Currently at a hotel near my course in Lat Prao (hating this hotel want to move next weekend when I can). Not sorting out anywhere perminant until I know exactly what I'm doing work wise (sounds like I can rent a place cheaper for a month than I am here for a week though)

It varies what I do in my free time. I like going out and doing the whole socialising thing, I'm into sports, comedy and films too.

Would love to come to a meet up, but would probably get lost so I'd need a guide :)

Have a look at mrroomfinder.com for condos and jobsdb.co.th for normal jobs or Ajarn.com for teaching jobs.

As for a guide, go to any MRT/BTS station and they will have there a map for free.

:)

Hello Lee,
Welcome to BKK! So far I've managed to communicate with some people on this forum, but no chance to meet anyone up yet due to my frequent travels. Would love to meet up over a coffee or so...just send me a message at my inbox anytime!
Meanwhile have fun exploring and discovering this vibrant city.:)

Cheers, got the maps, it's just understanding them :)

No idea where the good bars are either... just know they're not near where I am now :)

LuisF

Well youre in the north west of bangkok, and true, youre no where near to good bars. All of them condense in the areas of asok, nana, phrom pong, thong lo, ekkamai, silom, siam,...all the central areas really.

LeeCh

Yeah, taken advantage of the lax restrictions on internet usage at this hotel and heading out to Asok tomorrow night

LuisF

where you going to go out to then? let me guess, somewhere with lots of neon lights? if so, I recommend Baccarra. :D

Btw, if u going, tell me. Dont mind having a couple of beers over there.  :P

LeeCh

heading to the black swan... not sure i want to get too far out of my comfort zone yet...

LuisF

What time u going there man?

LeeCh

Didn't get your message until too late. Didn't stay long anyway, just had a walk around the area (after getting my north and south mixed up...)

I see what you mean by neon....

LuisF

Aww, pity m8. Well, maybe this next friday then. Im not gonna be in Bangkok until 12 or 1am  but will join the party nontheless. ( there is always one)
