What about cruises?

Dannyroc3

I have never taken a cruise before (not counting military deployments) but I understand that some of the deals are pretty good.

what about in VN, does anyone have any info on the topic. Do people use travel agencies for cruises. The only thing I saw on line were river boat trips.

i would imagine there would be cruises to nearby countries that VN ppl dont need a visa for.

Never been on a cruise yet but explored the possibility of one day embarking for the trip of a lifetime so I selected a couple of companies :

- Viking (their motto is: no kids no casino) because they do offer lectures on the visited places (I love history and archaeology) and offer both sea and river cruises (notably Egypt, Rhine and Danube)

- Regent, bit similar in pricing to Viking, has a very good marketing team and links you to your personal cruise adviser

- Norwegian as specialists to Scandinavia

Those three have NEVER been known for food poisoning like so many other cruise companies.

I took Cunard off my list because I do not want to have to wear a tux to have my dinner...especially not while on holidays

Hope you will find your dream cruise

Since we are talking about here in Vietnam, I recommend that anyone here who is interested in exploring cruise options look at things such as cruises from Singapore to Hong Kong or vice versa. I believe those are some of the main cruises that have now started making stops in ports here in Vietnam.

I've recently read online articles about ships beginning to stop in Ha Long Bay and near Hu廕, plus on the Saigon River near HCMC.

A little while back we sat on the shore of N廕登g Bay (near our home) and saw a beautiful cruise ship docked across the bay at the same location where the tenders for the USS Ronald Reagan aircraft carrier did their resupply runs.

I predict that the government is going to start encouraging investment in ships that originate in this country as well as complete their cruises here.

There's a ton of money to be had from the tourist traffic of people traveling to a cruise and disembarking from a cruise.

One thing they could consider would be to have cruises to nowhere, that take off from a port early in the morning and return later that day, allowing the participants to renew visas.

I'm not saying that's something that's being considered, I'm just saying it's an idea.

I guess thats why I didnt see anything on line for cruises.

IT SEEMs like real business opportunity. I guess the thing for someone to do is, fly to a Singapore or similar and do a cruise from there while renewing a visa.
