I've never been there, but the sisters told me Trà Vinh is a province as well as a city.

We're invited to the wedding and they also offer to put us up in their house.  Now I need to learn how much to give as gift.

Correct, but Trà Vinh city is not on the coast, it sits on a river inland from the coast.

You should know by now that as a Viet Kieu from the country where the streets are paved in gold and everyone is a millionaire, you will be expected to provide the most generous gift of all.   :(

Take a mosquito net with you! Last time I was there Tra Vin was plagued with them.

Money? 5 million dong or below.
