Any experiences hiring office staff?

jakejas

I am at the point that I need to hire a staff member for my small business. Does anyone have any advice or pitfalls that I need to watch out for? If you have a lot of good advice, I would even be willing to trade some of your experiences for a couple of beers.

Hi Jakejas!
For this topic, you should ask Eodmatt or Jaitch, especially Jaitch as he owns businesses in Vietnam. PM them! Good Luck to you!

Jaitch has been banned.

As an office manager for a representative office in hcmc I have hired 14 office employees in the last 18 months. 3 out of the 14 failed the 2-month probation. Just a bit advice for you to know that there is a probation period that you can test out whether or not you want to keep...
Please PM me if you need additional details.

I just started the interview process, and have mixed results. @ABC, I sent you a PM.

Our company has around 70 candidates for sales position and only 2 made it through the process.

For general staff, my feel is that you need to be more focus on your requirement and have discipline in your selection.

Most times, human being human, emotions set in and disrupt judgement.

Recruiting is a skill and requires a lot of judgement calls.

My 2 cents is each company is looking for different traits in people to join their team. Be focused and discipline is the key to shorten the selection process. Thereafter, is up to the company to motivate and develop the potential of that candidate.

Good luck buddy!
