In this case, you should go with Vietnamese partner to protect yourself with local business. You can register the business under Vietnamese name then, if you feel safer doing business in Vietnam, then you can buy this company as a foreign investor. So that you can be a 100% business owner of your business.

- To be ripped off by dishonest partners and corrupt officials.
- To have to pay bribes at every turn of the way.

The Sheraton Hotel was inspected 14 times in one year by numerous officials, it's a pity they cant be as diligent with SOE.

A project I was involved with had to buy three motorbikes (new un-used and only the best), so that certain officials could visit the site from time to time to ensure that "standards were being maintained". This in an area of expertise where there are no standards in Vietnam.

Interestingly, 22 senior managers and directors involved in the Vn oil and gas industry appeared in court today facing charges of corruption (well, "inappropriate investment and funding practices" or words to that effect).

The national bank and other banks will have directors and senior staff attending court soon too.

So there is a glimmer of hope for a good聽 cleanup of corruption in Vietnam?

Doubtful. It's more like a clean out of people so that a fresh bunch of suspects with different allegiances can be installed.

And with reference to my post above, it transpires that a bunch of foreign embassies and trade organisations have sent delegates to the court to view the proceedings.

With my opinion foreigner can be own 100% in Vietnam, but there will be so many disadvantages of them especially Vietnamese law only protect Vietnamese, and Foreigner cannot access so many functions in his/her business category.聽 So there will be so many trouble will coming once they set up 100% as a foreign investor. But the international investors who come to the substantial capital them may be possible.
