HCM to Vientiane

1312j

Can anyone point me in the right direction, please?

I'm looking to go to Vientiane from HCM and I'm led to believe there's a bus from here to Pakse and then Pakse to Vientiane, but I'm struggling to figure out how to book it.

If anyone can shed any light, be greatly appreciated

As far as I'm concerned you have to travel to provinces which are near to the border with Laos, and most of them are in mid-land of Viet Nam (Hue, Quang Tri, Quang Binh, Nghe An). From there, you can take a bus to enter Laos, e.g: you can take a bus from Nghe An to Luang Prabang. And then you can plan to travel to Vientiane.

This site provides extensive information about transportation in this part of the world:

I've never used them to book anything though, so can't comment on it.

Buses run all day and night from Pakse to Vientiane.  The day buses stop everywhere often picking up cargo. The overnight ones are sleeping seats and quicker but often have accidents. It is quicker, shorter and much better buses if you take a bus from Pakse to Ubon Ratchatani in Thailand. From Ubon regular buses to Nong Khai. Then cross the bridge back into Laos. No need to book any of these buses .
