Visa requirements for American with one year visa

Vicnik2

Hello , I have an American friend who has had a stroke and I’m trying to help sort his visa out . I’ve tried to sift through information but having trouble with definitive course of action and would appreciate some advice . He has a one year visa that up until now has had to be validated with a exit /re entry stamp , has that changed ? Is there any slack for stroke sufferers ? What are you fellow country men / women doing ?
Cheers , Vic

I believe he can get an 'extension' without leaving the country. See a visa agent.

At the moment you can go along to immigration and get an extension. They might be fussy over the length of the extension.

I would look for a local agent.. might be more expensive than doing it yourself.. but health obviously more important.

Where is he now ?

It's a one-year tourist visa for Americans?

A friend of a friend had one and didn't realize that he was supposed to leave every 3 months. He had his passport with him so we checked and his stamp was dated for several weeks prior. It was a Friday afternoon and he had a flight booked for Monday morning. He phoned his visa agent, who said there's nothing that can be done now as it's the weekend, so just go to the airport and don't worry about it. In the end, nothing happened.

That was in normal times a couple years ago, so I imagine that now in the middle of a global pandemic and having suffered a medical emergency, it's not going to be a big deal.

Nevertheless, as others have mentioned, you'd best check with a visa agent.

We both live in Quy Nhon . So HCMC is our closest consulate . We paid $350 usd for his last 3 month extension via an agent but we want to try do it cheaper .

Cheers , we did use an agent in HCM last time for the three month extension but cost $350 usd , want to try do it cheaper . In normal times he just does a Cambodia run in one day from Quy Nhon but that’s closed plus not enough space in passport , they use one page every time crossing over border .
Thanks anyways
