I need details about vaccinations and international travel

nhatrang7777

There are many sources providing answers about vaccine requirements to travel from Vietnam to America and later back to Vietnam, but in some respects they seem vague.
They state that I require
Vaccination certificate with QR code, digital pass via Smartphone application with QR code
or
Covid 19 Vaccine Passport or Certificate

I have been double jabbed (August 2021 and Oct 2021) with AstraZeneca and I have the PC-Covid App on my Smart Phone which documents this fact. I no longer have the Paper Certificate as I was told that once you are digitally verifiable (in the database) you no longer require the paper copy.
My smart phone has a Vietnam phone number (SIMM). I understand that my Vietnam phone number can be used to verify my vaccination, but, my Smart phone obviously will not work in the United States. I am a United States citizen with a 3 Year Temporary Residence Card. I am married to Vietnamese woman.

My questions are :

Q1) Do I need a Vaccination certificate with QR code OR a digital pass via Smartphone application with QR code OR do I need both? As stated above I have a digital pass via Smartphone application with QR code I was told that the digital pass via Smartphone application with QR code would be sufficient to exit Vietnam and to return again 3 or 6 months later. , but I want to verify this prior to leaving Vietnam.

Q2) Does that PC-Covid APP work in America as well?
Can it be used in America to validate vaccination in Vietnam?

Q3) What exactly is a Covid 19 Vaccine Passport?
Are they referring to my digital pass via Smartphone application with QR code ?

Any clarification would be greatly appreciated. I would like to make my travel arrangements in confidence and I can not do that with these questions unanswered.
Thank you so much.

About what?

Nobody answered the OP because of the complicated nature of the situation BACK THEN.

Such a problem would probably be best addressed at the Embassy or consulate OR in the USA forum, as it's essentially a question about what the USA will accept.

However, if you need :
As of 12:01AM ET on June 12, 2022, CDC will no longer require air passengers traveling from a foreign country to the United States to show a negative COVID-19 viral test or documentation of recovery from COVID-19 before they board their flight

All of that is nice, but if you will take the time to reread the entire OP (and not the first sentence or two) you'll see that his question was about LEAVING Vietnam and ENTERING the USA.

Also, it is a part of the website terms of use (referred to in the forum code of conduct) that copying and pasting information from another website without proper attribution is considered a copyright violation and not allowed.

Thank you for your cooperation.

I went back to US from VN (N廙i Bi) on Jun 20, 2022 via Narrita and return to VN on Aug 5, 2022 via Hong Kong... both way doesn't required any covid test or any special papper as long as you have covid vaccination card to show. Entering VN today the requirements is the same (Wife just got here 3 days ago), Having said that, enter the US is best to check with CDC (website). Hope this will help.

outbound on what airline?

that makes all the difference.

certainly US government authorities did not require this from you but the airline, correct?

outbound Vietnam Airlines (from San Francisco) non stop to Vietnam doesn't require any covid related documents.

Outbound: JP and AA. Inbound: AA and Cathay
Speaking of US government requirements outbound or inbound.. one must go to CDC website to confirm.... policy changing daily and I don't want to mislead anyone.
Speaking of VN (all airlines)... they don't care and don't check under the new policy.... basically, it's up to the airlines and the passenger to comply to the entering country.
