Tom,

You must specify the position and industry.  What you are asking is like, "where is it going to rain next?"  Man, even the best weatherman among us, will not be able to answer your question.  Please be specific.

Minimum salary is 1.050.000 VND/month. Top exec earn over 1MUSD/year, so feel free to choose anything in between.

When we are on the topic:
The average income of the female prostitutes are 10.6M/month which is 2.5 times higher than the top 20% earners, male prostitutes 6.55M/month.
Sources: 3/2012 official stats from the Ministry of Labor, based on sample size of 388 from the whole country.

Anything else, I can help you with :/?

Hi Again !

To be more specific, I am thinking about full time workers in shops/stores, in a turist area.

Best Regards

Tom

1.5-4+M/month depending on skills.

The average salary for normall workers (8 hours/day) is 2.5M -3M VND (around 110-140 USD) if you work in factory. if work overtime (more than 8 hrs/day)the extra time have to pay 150%. But the normal workers are not allowed to employ the foreigners.
So if your english is good, you can apply for english teaching that is easier.
If you find a job in shop/stores, it is difficult.Normally, they not employ the foreighners.

Hi Anatta !

You are 110 % right. And I think I remember you ? You are the one that just to book me all the time, :P

Anatta

No.
As they teach in negotiation class, information is power. It always pays to know more about your counterpart before starting negotiating.

Tom,

If foreign language is required, depending on the language and level of fluency, the pay rate will be higher.  Also, you must take geography into consideration.  The store in Saigon pays almost twice as much as one in Can Tho.

You should talk to the similar employees in your area.  The one thing that I love about Vietnamese employees is that they are very forth-coming.  Talk to a few and you will have a legitimate figure.

Best wishes,
Howie
