We spent a few days in Saigon right after TET 2 years ago and it was so quiet and peaceful, I was shocked!!!!!!聽 But pleasantly surprised at the tranquility.聽

This year, 2017, we are going to Da Nang right after TET for a week and relaxing at the Intercontinental hotel next to Monkey mountain.聽 If anybody will be in Da Nang, send me a pm.

I hope to be there by the 30th of Jan.I can't wait.We had snow twice this month.

Yeah but the weekend and week before T岷縯 is much more fun, and less quiet. Lots of pre-holiday shopping like the lantern and personal fireworks markets in D5, around H岷�i Th瓢峄�ng L茫n 脭ng. Get all your year-of-the-rooster stuff there.


Many boats and barges come up from Mekong bringing lucky plants and flowers. They park for days along the road B岷縩 B矛nh 膼么ng adjacent the canal in D8, across from V玫 V膬n Ki峄噒. From D5, cross the bridge C岷�u Ch脿 V脿. (search google map)


There will be mini concerts in random places. Yes the traffic is like this, see? Not quiet!



I am mostly familiar with that area, D5/D8, but there must be interesting stuff going on in other parts of Saigon.

Don't forget the huge flower market in 23/9 park, Ph岷�m Ng农 L茫o. During T岷縯 week I think.

Tet is fun when you have family members. I got too many about 50 on my wife's side and 30 on my side of the family.

Some traditions before Tet are deep cleaning the house and clearing the cob webs. Going to the flower market to buy tonnes of flowers to liven the house. Tet is like the Western version of pub crawling. You visit friends and family house to house. Try to pick the light drinkers' house first so you don't get wasted early on.

Than there's gambling which I strictly avoid even though it may be for peanut money.

And the worst tradition for us 暗网禁区s and Viet kieus is handing out lucky money. Even worst when you don't have kids but I guess that would apply to everyone.

If you are going to be lonely for Tet there's some great vacation package deals during Tet.
