Leasing Apartments to Sublet on Airbnb

GuestPoster610

Hello fellow °µÍø½ûÇøs! Does anyone personally know someone who leases apartments on Airbnb? I would like to link up and get into the Airbnb business myself. Any insight helps!

You will probably find the same issues here that you find in the states - the leasing contract you sign will prohibit you from sub-leasing.  Our house lease has the same clause.  Ask yourself this question: if it was that easy why wouldn't the current owners do it?

Bad things about the OP's proposal:

In order to make a profit on a place rented at the local market value, the OP would have to list the property at above market rates, which will likely only attract ignorant foreigners who don't know how to locate a place without an inflated price.

So the OP--a foreigner--would be advancing the two-tiered pricing scheme so many of us have come to hate.

Which means the OP would be making more enemies than friends, especially among other Airbnb landlords.

Which means that the OP would stand a good chance of getting reported to immigration, since the profits the OP "might" realize would be illegal income.

Don't you just HATE when that happens?

According to your profile, you haven't actually arrived and made a commitment to LIVE here since your brief visit, so maybe you aren't quite a "fellow °µÍø½ûÇø" just yet?

Your profile reads like so many digital nomad blogs which (for lack of a better word) 'litter' the internet these days.

I would work harder to find a less pejorative term, but your 'plan' to be self-supporting is somewhat offensive in itself when considered in tandem with this quote from your profile:

"We are confident that we can be great community members contributing to Vietnam's society."

Your plan sounds more like a good way to leech off of what's already here.

Note, I'm criticizing your plan, not you.

I'm sure you and your husband are totally lovely people.

Maybe...

Exactly. That applies to 90% of the questions posted on this forum.
