Speaking English in the Cayman Islands

Priscilla

Hi everyone,

It is widely agreed that speaking English is essential for a successful integration in the Cayman Islands. Do you agree? Share your experience!

Do you speak English? If so, where did you learn this language? Where can one attend a language course in the Cayman Islands?

If not, how do you cope with daily activities? Is it easy to communicate in a different language with Caymanians?

Thank you for sharing your experience.

Hi Priscilla,
While English is the main language spoken in the Cayman Islands, due to the diversity of the population you will most likely meet someone that "speaks your language"  some more so than others depending on what part of the world you are from. For day to day business though English is required.

Hey, Ansil. I meant to tell you before, man - Georgetown is in Guyana; the place in Cayman is called George Town (two words)! Anybody writing to you in Georgetown is likely to have his letter sent to the wrong place.
