Form Needed for Erasing CAJA Payments for the Months out of Costa Rica

mjgbenoit

My lawyer says I need to obtain a document from Immigration with my migratory movements to prove I was out of CR for a number of months and therefore didn't pay CAJA for the months I was not here.  My lawyer is asking $170usd to do this for me but I would rather find the form and go to CAJA myself.  Does anyone know where online I can find this form?

A number of months ago, My lawyer received an email confirmation from a caja official that indicated you just need to show proof of travel like boarding passes, that you were out of the country (no minimum # of months mentioned in email)  to waive caja fee.  Caja official did not mention any type of form in the email.    Maybe this is a relatively new requirement.  If so, I would be interested to know.

Still can't find the Migratory Movement Form anywhere online. Does anyone have the latest version or where to download it?

We did this in February by going to our local  CAJA office with departure ticket.  They gave us the form there to fill out and we had to add a signed handwritten statement  (that we wrote in Spanish while at the office) that we were not returning for at least three months. I understand from our lawyer that much depends on the office and personnel you are dealing with as to what they will require. We learned upon our return that it can be a hassle to reinstate - so be aware of the pros and cons and whether it’s worth it.  We were away for 10 months so it was worth it but we wouldn’t do it again for shorter absences.

Is there a website that shows my account with an actual invoice or amount owing?

I use the website for various things...  You can see your payment history; if you 'pay' for pension, etc.  They even have a list of medications that they carry.

You need to go onto the site and register before you can start using it.
