Motor Home

HOMERFROMLAWTON

We are definitely moving to Costa Rica but before we decide we want to make a tour of the country in our motor home before we decideto set down roots.  I started looking for any rve parks where i can spend a day or a month so i can get electricity, water, and sewer and i can not find any.  does anyone know of a list i can refer to and make reservaitons of rv parks or whatever.  i have seen suggestions of rent a room at a hotel and park in the parking lot, but still have a problem with electricty, sewer and water at most hotels.  There has to be something.  i see blogs of people that will drive from canada to the tip of south america, but where do they stay in Costa Rica.  Thanks for everyone's answer.

@HOMERFROMLAWTON....Move to Costa Rica how ?....Migration is going sweat you. They will ask for proof of when you are leaving Costa Rica and on what specific date.....You need to go through all the costly administrative legalities

before you can get residency.....If it were that easy for North American motor home dwellers to get a foothold into Costa Rica then you would see trailer park gringo communities being pillaged by Ticos....Because security bars and motor homes don't mix either..

thank you for your reply. i know all of this.  i have been researching for about six months.  but i am stumped i am looking for answers where can i park and spend a night or two or even seven where i can plug in electricity, hook up a water hose, flush the toilet and the water runs into the  sewer.  if you know where i can find a list of places i can get these services and pay for them please share.  If i don't find any i will just find a parking lot close to the police station and run the generator.  there is plenty of information on websites, and vidoes to get almost every other answer.  i does concern me taking a $400,000 motor home thru Mexico and parking in Costa Rica, but i can handle all that,  pepper spray will discourage anyone.  i have a stun gun and a gun.  the stun gun is illegal,  we will be sleeping in the  motor home.  my biggest unsolved  problem is the waste water from flushing the commode.  i am good for 3 days.  i have the water capacity and the holding tank.    thank you for your well meant advise, but it did nothing to answer my question.

i would like to add we will not be living full time in the motor home.  we have plans to build a big house that has enough land to put a 40 ft shipping container and at least 4 carports.  1 for the motor home, two for boats, and one for  big boy toys like 4 wheelers and kayaks.  the yard will have a 6 ft  fence and the gate kept closed and i will get two big dogs plus i plan to put cameras that will immediately notify me if they pick up movement.    i have those on my home now but i will add more plus make them solar powered.   like everywhere i have a bad neighbor and i have filmed him 5 times pilfering and taking stuff.  i did not call the police.  i dealt with him my way and he figured out there is easier places to steal from.  still trying to figure out how to deal with the monkeys  i can string and electric wire but they use trees, but i love to figure out solutions to abnormal problems.  where we plan to live had not been decided but it will not be anywhere close to the capital.  big towns have crime problems .  my goal is to become friends with the locals.  where i live now neighbors look out for neighbors.  i just confronted two men selling alarms.  old junky car and poorly dressed.  As a joke i said you look like crooks smiling, one smiled back and said it takes one to know one. Then i knocked on a new Cadillac with tinted windows just to learn it was my neighbor sitting in the car waiting on her husband to bring her house key.    She has misplaced hers.  i told her she was having a blonde moment.. Most neighbors are what we make them-friends.

It will be illegal for you to possess a firearm or a stun gun and probably pepper spray. If you're caught with any of those (bows and arrows, crossbows, etc, too) confiscation is assured even if you're not arrested. Owning any of those will require long-term temporary or permanent residency (think five years), a psychological exam, and a gun safety course in Spanish.

I'm afraid that the reason you cannot find an online list of motorhome facilities is that there are few, if any, but probably none. Motorhomes are just not a thing here. In twenty years, I've never seen one on the road. For comparison, google "ski jumps in Costa Rica".
