Furnishing a villa in casa linda

taralindsay5

Hello all, it’s been a while since I’ve been on this forum and I almost forgot how to use it. (Hehe)

Our villa in Casa Linda is in the process of being built. They started about six weeks ago and things are moving along quite nicely and quickly. We are trying to figure out if it makes sense to higher a designer to purchase all the furniture and everything turn-key, or for us to fly down and purchase everything down there and do it all ourselves. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Trying to avoid the hassle of furnishing it ourselves, but I also don’t wanna encourage the crazy expense if it’s not worth it.

@taralindsay5 I shipped some items here from Canada but purchased the bulk of my furnishings/appliances here.  I am a designer by trade so chose to do this myself.  I bought items in Santo Domingo, Santiago, Puerto Plata and locally.  I hired a driver to get me around and found it worth the price.  Driving in those cities was an experience I didn't want.  I found fabulous things and at reasonable prices.  We take the hit on the U.S. dollar exchange which hurts but there's no way around that.  I am still waiting to get into my villa.  I was supposed to close on April 8 and it's Dec 13 and I'm still waiting (keep this in mind).  The stores kept my items on hold and/or shipped without issue to a location I am storing at.  If you're renting I strongly suggest you don't go higher end as you'll find things take a beating.  All the best in your endeavor.
