how do you request for a 6-12  month visa if you want to apply for residence, after receiving 30 day visa stay when you arrive in-country ?  and what documents should you bring for proof of Retirement Income. Am retired from the U.S. Army and collect SS monthly.

You need a residency visa from your own country to start the process. It is valid for 60 days.

A call to the nearest Dominican consulate in your home country might be a useful first step to talk through what is needed.

Other memebers have obtained this resideny visa and moved onto getting temporary residency in DR and have posted their experiences so I am sure one or other will add comments.

If you have a pension, you will likely qualify for fast track residency which means after the residency visa and then delivering a formal application in DR, you get processed for one year temporary residency and one year later you apply for permanent residency.

You may need a lawyer for both the application for the residency visa and temporary residency visa when you arrive and members will offer you rrecommendations.

First there is no 6 to 12 month visa. 

Apply for residencia. It starts at home not here in DR.  Go to the residencia thread and you will find wht you need.
