Your phone must be unlocked to use it in Panama.聽 If your Verizon phone is a CDMA as are most Verizon phones, you almost certainly cannot unlock it.聽 Same thing with Sprint.

No.聽 The easiest thing to do is buy a cheap cell phone to use while here.聽 There are many shops that will sell you one and set it up for you for about $25.聽 You buy prepaid phone cards for use in Panama.聽 For calls to the U.S. while here you can get Magic Jack or Skype, both VOIP, to use on your Verizon phone.
