Transferring or selling a car with title to an 18 year old in PR

Journeyandbeyond

Hello,

Does anybody know if it is legal to sell or transfer the title of a paid for car to an 18 year old in PR?
I asked my insurance company and was a bit shocked they did not know the answer... They suggested I ask a lawyer?

I have a paid for car in my name that I would like to turn over to my son so I am not responsible or on the Title anymore.
Any feedback would be appreciated.

Yes, as long as he have an ID. Legal age is 18 in the island. He can register the car on his name. If he wants additional insurance, it may cost him more because of age.

Yes, he can just use the "seguro compulsorio". It is included on the vehicle registration.

As of January 2022, this is not possible. I just learned it the hard way. Needs to be at least 21 years old to own a vehicle in Puerto Rico. Also, it's not possible to have a co-owner for a vehicle, only a single owner is allowed.
