I received this from one of my members, I figure I quote it here for your information. This is the first time I have heard of enforcement like this. It is very inconsistent all over the island, but you never know. So here is what she said.
"FYI... National Guard and Police ae hitting the beaches on the South West coast now. I was approached by 10 NG members and police today when walking my puppy, and allowing my daughter to practice her stroke with her kick board ( I was masked the whole time). They stopped me (even without a single other soul anywhere near me, I was on the complete opposite side of the beach about a half a KM away from everyone else). They went over the rules with me and they were about to give me a ticket, and asked for my ID... I gave them my Veterans ID... Thankfully they stopped writing the ticket. They informed me that exercising on the beach or in the water is solely for organized sports, with proof of membership and only for 30 mins at a time ( we were not there for more than 15 mins when they appeared). They then told me that they gave out 146 tickets (of $5,000 each) yesterday at that same beach ( it was Buye ). As we were leaving we saw a convoy of another 5 military vehicles entering the other side and about 20 foot soldiers handing out more tickets. ( police give you the ticket officially, but NG stops you while the police write them) No one was sitting or camping on the beaches, as we understood... and everyone looked as though they were doing private exercise like walking, jogging, dog walking or swimming.. So heads up on whatever the rules are to be truthfully, and what is being instructed of the people now...IDK...... just be careful even if you are exercising, apparently it is a NO-GO now..."
