Car insurance driving from UK to Austria

Hi, in a few weeks' time I will be driving down from the UK to Austria, but I'm currently having trouble finding an insurance provider who is willing to cover me for the drive down.

UK insurers will insure in the EU, but only provided that the trip starts and ends in the UK; Austrian insurers require a permanent residence.

Does anyone have any experience with this or know of any insurance providers that might cover me?

All UK cars covered 3rd parts within EU but they won't tell you. For 12 month cover more thab 3rd party e.g. fire & theft, fully comp go to:

but his AXA policy is more expensive than usually cheap UK price.
