Belgium Nationality 2024
What/who are best law firms/lawyers to get in touch once the 5 year mark is complete to apply for citizenship?
@Srizzy
You don't need a law firm. You can do it yourself. First you have to apply for permanent residency (B card or L card). Once you have that you can go to your commune and ask for a list of what you need to apply for nationality. It is not difficult if you meet the qualifications and no need to spend money on a lawyer.
@masstonsils0e
Police visited you already?
@nadeshn
No...and I don't expect them to because it seems uncommon in Brussels and if they were going to it would have been earlier.
Hi guys,
Update today: in 10 days it s gonna be 4months and 4 days.
Today I can't login in mondossier anymore, my current card seems to be cancelled
My update...I went into MonDossier this morning and there was nothing. I signed back in 10 minutes ago and saw my Acte de Nationalite
I applied on 8 July 2024 in Ixelles. There was no police visit.

Congrats!
@masstonsils0e
Hello, we applied from the same commune... My card is not able to be login into any online service including mondossier. I applied 26/07
@Gdda
I am still able to log into Mondossier, and that is where I saw the certificate. Have you tried IRIS box? You can go into it and, under the Ixelles commune, see if you can download the nationality certificate.
How are the language requirements when applying for the citizenship, given that the 5 years preceding the application the applicant was working full time?
@Srizzy
It depends on the commune. I spoke in French while submitting my application, but I didn't provide any certificates because don't have any.
Has anyone recently applied in Gent or Flanders? How long did it take to get approval for your application?
As I understand, they automatically deactivated our card when the application is approved?
Today i tried to checked the burgerprofiel and my nationality certificate was there :-D
Applied on: 26 July (Got confirmation same time)
Nationality Approved: 19 November
Commune: Antwerp
I can't... and either I can login to mondossier. Some Belgian friends tried also log in to mondossier and that didn't work... Maybe the website is down.. I guess I just have to wait. how long did you wait for the result?@masstonsils0e
hey there, I applied mid September, in Brugge (still waiting for an answer).
Before the final decision, what did appear on Mijn Dossier? I have constant check of the Gemeente and “Attest van Belgische Nationaliteit” and the “FOD Binnenlandse Zakken” (one time 2 weeks ago)… does this mean something?
@Gdda
If you are in Ixelles you can sign into Irisbox using itsme. Once you are in you can select on Ixelles as your commune and look for the nationality tab. If you click on that you will see if the nationality document is available.
In my case. i was still able to sign into MonDossier using my L card (and I still can as of this morning).
my original application was filed on 8 July
@masstonsils0e
Thanks!
I don’t see any certificate yet.. guess I’ll just wait.. it’s not yet the time
@Gdda
Mine came in at 4 months + 1 week + 1 day.
You mentioned submitting your application on July 27th, so I would expect yours to be ready by November 4th or 5th. But you should check everyday.
My access to MonDossier has never been blocked, so hopefully you will have access to it (or at least IRISBox) until you get the notice.

Hi all
I have applied for nationality this month and need to travel outside EU due to personal emergency and may need to stay for 1 month in outside ,would it be any issue for my application or my existing status? Kindly requesting you to give your feedback. Appreciate your help
I've also finally applied and awaiting the positive decision. Here's my timeline:
Submitted my application: August 30th, 2024
Signed the declaration & paid the commune fee (once all my files were confirmed to be complete): September 30th, 2024

Today makes it 4 months, but my belgian nationality certificate hasn't been uploaded on yet
Please does any one know what I can/should do at this point?
@tunde4elohim
Did they upload your birth certificate on MyDossier?
@Liwane
Yes, my birth certificate was already uploaded 3 years ago when I had put together the necessary document to get married at the commune.
@tunde4elohim
That's Ok,
I've read somewhere that the wait period could be 4 months and two weeks in some cases,
Good luck
@tunde4elohim
Hi
I know you mentioned your birth certificate was already uploaded 3 years ago, but at that time did you also legalise in your home country and translate it?

Yes indeed! I had legalized it in my home country and translated it to French before submitting it at the commune.
Actually, I specifically followed up with them uploading it because it was only uploaded a year after my initial submission/commune marriage.
