Hi All,

We have applied family reunion visa D on 28th Oct in vfs global. Now the status of visa in ibz website is 'in behandeling' . Does anyone have recent approvals and may I know how many days should we need to wait to get the visa?

@Julien

Thank you Julien.

I joined here to know more about family reunion visa.

We have applied visa for our family on 28th Oct and eagerly waiting for the status. My husband is alone living in Belgium for the last 1.5 years.

May I know still how many days should we need to wait for getting approval. Anything do we need to do for getting it faster approval. Suggestions would be appreciated and very thankful .

Thanks

Great I like the idea, I am not very new to this forum. But first time to introduce myself.

I am a doctor and my certificates of specialty are from Canada and USA. I came to Belgium back in 2020 (COVID year) on a scholarship from Belgian government to do medical research. I liked it here and have been promoted in the same place to work permanently.

My plan was to reside permanently in Belgium, I also got married and expecting a baby....but suddenly they fired me from the research job.  I found a new job last November but the contract will be for one year.

In the meantime I submitted my certificates to get the Belgian qualification in medicine which is not easy by the way.

Anyway, I am hoping to get the INAMI to practice medicine here. If things did not work I will sadly leave the country with my family. I am Canadian citizen and qualified to practice medicine there, but I like the lifestyle in Belgium really and already starting my family and stabilizes myself here.

:(

Although there is a huge shortage in medical health personnel, but to get the INAMI, it is taking forever. This is what I am working for at the moment. If I got a job in hospital before the end of 2025, I will stay and things will be great, if not, I must leave the country because I have to return back working in the hospital.

Hi, I joined this platform to learn more about the single permit procedure.

I received a postdoctoral fellowship from a university in Brussels last year, and they submitted my application in October. However, I was only informed in December that my application was deemed admissible, and I haven't received any further updates since then.

My boyfriend works in the UK, and we are planning to move to Brussels together when I start my job.

Hi all,

I'm going to be moving to Brussels this coming June.  I'm a EU (Greece) citizen as well as US.  I speak both English and Greek fluently and am "OK" with my Spanish and working very hard on my French right now.  I love languages so I really like that Belgium has a ton of language diversity.  My reasons are many like most people and I do plan on staying in Europe for the forseeable future after this move.

Mainly I want to be closer to family in Greece but also be in a place where I can enroll in school relatively easily as an adult and in a place that will allow me to enjoy being in such a central location in Europe.  I'm really excited about it but at the same time I'm being as diligent as possible to have as much done in advance as possible.  I may have some questions for others in the future so I'll thank you all in advance!

Your move to Brussels sounds exciting! With your love for languages and plans for study, you’ll fit right in. Feel free to ask any questions—wishing you a smooth transition!

Thanks so much Bhavna!

I'm really excited to be moving to such a "language diverse" place and also be close to my European roots.  And as always with travel...the things that end up surprising us the most are the things that we haven't even thought of yet...so I'm really looking forward to exploring when I arrive.  I defintely may have some questions related to how renting an apartment goes over there...but for now I just want to thank you for the warm welcome!😊

Hello!

Been reading in the forum the past few days. Appreciate the collective effort everyone has put into this to share information.

I've joined the forum as I am looking to get some insights on Work Visa D timelines within Schengen with a non-EU passport. I am currently on a student permit in Spain and have a job offer in Flanders region. I understand the single permit is taking time to process - based on the forum about 3 to 4 months (when Annex 47 is issued). Finding information on Visa D within Schengen is a bit tougher. Hoping to see how the timelines are on this aspect.

Would appreciate if anyone has any leads! 🙂

Hi everyone, since I'm just joining the forum I guess I should introduce myself...

I am a Chinese citizen (no other citizenship) who has stayed in the US since 2015 on an F-1 visa; sadly I still don't have permanent status as of now. I'm currently working as a postdoc researcher. I also have two cats. Due to... reasons, I started looking for jobs in the Eurozone since November 2024; I was suggested to look for opportunities in Belgium, eventually I did end up securing a postdoc position that seem to be a good fit at ULB.

As of right now, between my lack of permanent US status and the slow pace of getting certain documents (in my case: an apostilled US federal criminal record is a nightmare), I'm planning a rather complex move back to my hometown first, and hopefully I'll be able to continue the single permit application process from China while doing a bit volunteer work for the research group... Fingers crossed.

I'm joining this forum to 1) have a better grasp of the legal process & timelines of getting the single permit, long-stay visa, and possibly citizenship if things work out, and 2) meet other people who might be in similar situations.
