Hi,

Officially you can not work without valid work permit.

Your current work permit is linked to your current employer.

Before you change your work, your new employer or yourself (depend on your current circumstances see here : ) should apply for a appropriate work permit. Either unlimited or limited.

Once is issued then you can change your work.

Good luck.

You can but the issue is that you can't do this by yourself. Meaning, you have to get accepted in a new job and the chief of your new job should apply for a new permit and once you get all this, you can leave your current work.

I can tell you that it is a bit of a risk. My advice, don't leave your current job UNLESS you get a new permit and ID in hand before you go to the new job OR better to stay in your current job until you become eligible for an unlimited work permit so you will have more freedom and you won't require more new permit and ID...etc

I hope this help.

Hello , just for your information and correction. Please do not get offended  from my quotes.

OP can apply unlimited single permit if she/he fulfil the certain conditions one of them is 30 months working which he is fulfilling.

Unlimited work authorisation granted after 30 months' residence and occupation in the Brussels Capital Region: To qualify for an unlimited work authorisation, an employee domiciled in the Brussels Capital Region must have resided in Belgium for at least 30 months without interruption and provide proof of 30 months' employment attested by a single permit or work authorisation obtained in the Brussels Capital Region.

don't leave your current job UNLESS you get a new permit and ID

ID is not related with his/her working permission. As long as she/he has the work permit and residence permit , no ID needed.

That makes a lot of sense but my relationship with my current employer is not on good terms right now. Even after making me work like slaves because he knows I can not change jobs. He been threatening me he gonna gire me. And it is still 2 more months before I can apply for unlimited work permit.

I been putting extra hours just so he won't mess up my work permit.

My 30 months of work gonna be complete 30 of June and my Employer will be applying to renew my single permit in August. If I apply for unlimited work permit in first week of July, is it still ok to apply for single permit by my Employer in August. Or we should just wait for unlimited work permit.

Or I should wait for single permit and then apply for unlimited work permit.  Please advise. Thanks.

What i advice you :

In July apply yourself Unlimited WP. This can take 4-5 months to get it. But renewal is faster. So let your employer apply for an extension in August. Whenever you get your Unlimited WO , do your initial plan (either continue in same workplace or leave).

In case of leaving your employer will request termination of your employer linked Single Permit and Unlimited will remain valid.

Good luck

Thanks. I was thinking in the same line but am afraid they would object to apply two permits at the same time frame.
