Card A Renewal

gsenol

Hello,

According to the information provided on the following website:

I understand that it is possible to apply for an unlimited work permit after 30 months of residence in the Brussels-Capital Region.

I started residing in the municipality of Evere in January 2023, and I will have completed 30 months of uninterrupted residence by July 2025.

My workplace is located at 1831 Machelen/Diegem, which in the Flemish Region. In this context, can I apply for an unlimited work permit based on my residence in the Brussels Region?

Note: My type A residence permit is valid until 10/2025.

If the answer is yes:

I understand that I must apply via using the "citizen" access by August 2025 at the latest.

I also understand that my employer does not need to be involved in this process. Could you please confirm this?

If the answer is no:

I understand that my employer must apply for an extension of my limited work permit on my behalf through the same website, using the "enterprise" access. Is that correct?

Thanks in advance

Hello,

I think you have it wrong.

This is from the Brussels employment website . " If your authorisations to work were issued by the Brussels Capital Region (Brussels Economy and Employment): you must provide proof of at least 30 months of employment covered by an authorisation over this ten-year period."

"I understand that it is possible to apply for an unlimited work permit after 30 months of residence in the Brussels-Capital Region." - Its based on employment and not your residence.

Since your employer is in Flanders, you can refer to the site for more details and yes your employer should be the one to file your A card renewal.
