Timeline to apply for Belgian Nationality

Shinde Nayan

Hello All

My husband has been working in Brussels since 4 years on work permit. As far as we know that as per the rules, he can apply for citizenship after completing 5 years in Belgium. However, what happens to this timeline if he works as freelancer before completing 5 years.
Does the timeline to apply for citizenship change if he chooses to become a freelancer?

The rules says that's you have to have proof of 468 days of working or 40 hours of proof diploma or study proof in the period of 5 years.

Working proof At least till the date of have applied. (in my opinion).

I don't think it is important if you are working temporary, permanent or freelance contract as long as you are paying taxes and social security and have proof of it.
