Anyone familiar with the Woluwe area?

Su-ann Khoo

I have recently relocated for work to Belgium, and after staying for a couple of weeks in company's temporary accommodation in Etterbeek, I am now ready to start looking for my own place to rent. I have been once to the Woluwe St Lambert area and I quite like the serenity and greenness of that area. However, 99% of my colleagues are staying in Ixelle/St Gilles area and to them, WSL seemed a bad choice as it is `far away from the city' etc. Some told me its meant for families and `old' people (Whatever thats suppose to mean!), and that shopping is not so convenient.

I would like to ask if there's anyone who's/had experienced living in either WSL or even W St Pierre area? and what are your experiences of the area? how is the community/people ?

Thanks!

Well if you want serenity and greenness, St Gille and Ixelles and Etterbeek are not the places to live. There are plenty of apartments in WSP and WSL designed for couples and singles. Metro lines 1 and 5 and trams lines 39 and 44 connect with the city. Even Stockel (east end of WSP) is only 20 minutes away by metro from gare centrale. It's not that far really. There is even a night bus which goes as far as Tram Museum in WSP.

I've got a Belgian friend who lives there but she fits into your typical resident category- married, one kid, another on the way. Some nice housing there, but they haven't found their (elderly) neighbors particularly friendly. Otherwise they're both pretty happy  with the 'hood. Husband works in the EU govt area so he at least has to commute. She works walking distance away.

Thanks both for your comments! its reassuring esp to hear that WSL/WSP is not that far away, if measured by the time to travel by metro. For me, 20 minutes is acceptable, but maybe not for everyone.

I have been living in Woluve for more than a week, ever since i have come to Brussles. I have been trying to set up my place as I shall be here for more than an year. I have found this area tto be rather comfortable with open spaces and enough shopping places close by with decent connectivity.
Though I maybe here since a week have explored the area well and if u need any help in settling down, you could contact me.
Welcome

Thanks sharat varma! I'd PM you
I've looked at over 20 places, and in the end, I chose a place around Josephine Charlotte, which while still in WSL, is closer to the city. I would have love to stay nearer to Stockkel but this unit fits nearly all my criteria, so i went for it.

Excellent choice, still plenty of restaurants and shops and supermarkets.

Hi there, do you perhaps know of any useful websites for looking for accomodation besides at agencies and immoweb etc? I have looked at forum on °µÍø½ûÇø and will place an ad there soon. Thanks
