Ballet Classes - US to Brussels

Waitingand...

Hello,

I have a young child who was in ballet in the US and wants to continue with ballet when we return to the US in several years.  Personally, I think the US overdoes it with pushing sports too seriously at a young age.  However, ballet in Brussels seems quite casual.  All the Brussels ballet studios only offer 1 class per week for children under 10.  If a second class is offered, it is Wednesday afternoon (conducive to Belgium school schedules but it doesn’t work with the International school schedules.)  On the upside, we have found some of the local schools have quite strong technique.

Has anyone tackled ballet lessons in Brussels, with the intention of bridging back into a US ballet program?  What are the goods and bads?  Do you try to join two schools in hopes of putting together 2-4 classes a week?  ...or just don’t sweat it and assume a motivated child will catch up at a later age if it’s meant to be?  Interested in hearing thoughts!

Is your child going to be dancing for a living? If not, use the free ballet classes of the French or Flemish music academies.
