What would happen if my visa expires before i get my residence permit?

Hello everyone,

i got a Belgian type D visa, unfortunately due to covid i couldn't move to Belgium, my visa will expire in mid August and i plan to move there before my visa expires.
my concern is if my visa expires before getting my residence permit (which will take more then 2 months) will i get in trouble with the authorities and will it be legal to stay with an expired visa ?

Once you come to Belgium, you report to commune(municipal office). They will give you a Annex. This serves as an identity to register for insurance and other formalities.
