Pomorie or Sveti Vlas or Sozopol for 12 months / permanent stay

Raizori

Hello everyone ,

Could I get recommendations for full year living in those towns. I am not interested in nightlife much only chill stay. Do not mind crowds in beach in season. Ideally some fresh food from market restaurant open whole year etc. Healthcare and infrastructure important as always. Please write as much you can about each plus your take. Flying to Bulgaria for the first time in September. All information appreciated

Sveti Vlas is a full time residential community of approximately 4000. We visited in January 2025 and found a few restaurants, coffee shops, and street side markets opens. The Palace Hotel has an in door swimming pool and spa that is available to the locals for a small fee. Medical care is available year round in Sunny Beach, about a 10 minute drive from Sveti Vlas. Major hospitals and specialists are available in Burgas about 35 minutes away.It is more than a resort that shutters the windows and doors September 15.

Sveti Vlas is nice, but it's a bit dinky for year-round living, I feel. On the plus side, close to Nessebar, has a fancy Marina, and is at the end of the Balkan Mountains so it's great for a bit of hill walking.

Pomorie and Sozopol are much bigger, and I would say they're a much better option for year-round. We've stayed in Sozopol a couple of times, and it's a great little town.

Personally, I'd prefer living in Burgas and Varna for city service, but they're the priciest options. For the larger towns, my picks are Balchik, Pomorie and Sozopol.

Agree with the recommendations for Burgas or Varna. If your looking to buy and live all year round but also want quick access to the beaches and sea, they are both great.

Can always try to get a "cheap" studio in one of the resorts for summer and spend the rest of your time in the city.

We live in a village in the Pomorie Municipality and I prefer the old town there to Sunny Beach or anywhere else.
