How bearable/unbearable have/are the recent temperatures?

shotokan101

Hi again,

Given the record temperatures seen recently in Cyprus, how "bearable/unbearable" is it actually - especially for going outdoors at home by the pool but also out and about for shopping etc.?

With regards to the above, are there any areas or factors that are better or worse? E.G. "above the humidity line"

Thanks,

Jim

It has felt hot for sure since late May when the temp just shot up one day. I work from home and do not like using AC during the day. I work up stairs and use a fan by my desk. I swim in the pool at lunch time to cool off and generally find a swim and shower during the day does the job. However, eating out a few times in Kouklia square recently was way too hot at 9pm. We now seek out air conditioned taverna's.

At the weekend we drive to the Troodos mountains (26c) and spend the day out with the dog taking the cooler weather and having a picknick. We get a 1.5 hour trip in the air conditioned car each way and the humidity and temperature is much lower in Troodos. Unfortunately last weekend the whole of Cyprus had the same idea and it was rammed lol Autumn is coming and the overnight temp is now 24c with lower humidity so I might be switching the bedroom AC off in a few weeks :-/

Thanks Phil - that's useful to know - so would living above that "Humidity Line" actually make much difference when at home?

We bought new AC units and installed solar last year.  We have the aircon on 24hours a day mostly using the dry mode as it removes the moisture from the air.  We don't have a car so have to leave early in the morning to catch the bus as it is too hot to walk there later.  Trying to find a car to buy now as the heat has lasted too long this year and been too humid.

We live in Tala up the hill and this is better than the coast but still uncomfortable at the moment. I expect to be comfortable you would need to live in the mountains
