Getting a job by student dependant visa

Bahman60

I worked as graphic designer, art director and branding consultant in my country and got over 10 years experience am I'm good at it enough.

I came to London about 2 month now with student dependant visa with full time work permission for one year and it will be extended for another 2 years. Many companies ask if I will need sponsorship now or for the future and when I say yes they stop me there. I applied like 100 times and the only time somebody wanted to interview they denied as soon as informed about my visa type.

Which companies would like to be sponsor and which ones not? Are there any incentives for those who sponsor an employee when everywhere is news about shortage of labour in UK?

So, should I only apply for part-time, contracts and freelance or can I still have hope for a full time job and apply a 1000 more to find one?

Hi and welcome to the Forum.

My advice is to try LinkedIn, then look for your peers and ask them who is hiring and where.  Maybe those people already in the workplace will have a better idea than anybody on here.

I hope this helps.

On the GOV.UK site you can find a list of companies with certificates of sponsorship. Of course there's no guarantee, but it means they at least have the capacity to sponsor you so it might be a good starting point.

If you can, for now, work without restriction, you're in a better position than you would be if you needed sponsorship from the outset, as the company can try you out before committing.

@fleur3 Thank you for answering.

I will take your advice. BTW I got like 3 years of visa with full-time work permission and its lots of time to work with someone and make sure if you want it then sponsoring them and if now get rid of them.

If you can work for 3 years unrestricted, then I personally feel that's unlikely to be the issue. 3 years is a long time. We don't have a culture of people staying with a company for life or anything like that. Maybe speak to some recruitment agencies... they should be able to advise you.

@fleur3 I know that. Say it to all these companies that reject me in the first place! This is a new HR thing to hire somebody for life-time! Even biggest corporations are not able to hold somebody more than 4-5 years!

I am failing to understand your post, in order for us to help you can you give us more information?

Bahman, when companies ask if you need sponsorship you reply 'no'. Then they will interview you.
