Just to add, only go through official UK Government websites as stated in my first post.

Cynic

The service is free; there are scammers who will offer to do it for you (for a small fee) as a service; they then have your full name, address, post code and NI number; enough to get an illegal to work pretending to be you.

On the off chance that you have a Biometric Residence Permit (BRP), you may have a National Insurance number as of now - it will be imprinted on the rear of your BRP on the off chance that you do. In the event that you don't have a National Insurance number, you should apply for one in the event that you intend to work, apply for an understudy loan or guarantee benefits. You can just apply once you're in the UK. However, in India national insurance parivar Mediclaim is a good option for health care.
