Where to recycle plastic?

mcmeg12

I think Helsinki has pretty good recycling recepticals around the city, mostly for glass, colored class, metal, paper, cardboard and biowaste. So why not plastic? I have been searching online for information about some plastic recycling centers in the city where I could easily recycle these things, instead of throwing them in the trash. We have an 'energy trash' bin in our apartment, but I'm pretty sure that plastics aren't allowed there. Unfortunately, it seems, these perfectly recyclable items are being thrown out by the masses. Any ideas?

Hei,

I tried this website, which lists recycling centres and spots near any place :

First tab a search by street address and municipality (Katuosoitteesi ja kunta). Etäisyys is the radius around the designated place.

The second tab (Haku alueella) is to search by city or postal code.

Choose a type of waste (in your case most probably muovi - plastic). Results are presented on GoogleMaps, quite handy.

Oddly no results are presented for plastic in Helsinki or Espoo, even though the website provides .

Found then this website of a . They have a , where you can find containers to collect plastic waste. There is a K-citymasket for example in Ruoholahti. I tried to find other collecting places but did not find any yet.

Have a nice recycling ;-)
