If heat, is a concern then the South of France isn't going to be the place for you. 90F is quite mild, where I live in Austria (Vienna) that's quite normal for Summer. We often go over 100F! You're right about climate change because our summers are getting hotter and our winters are getting milder.

Same where I live in upstate New York. This summer we had three less 90plus days than Beziers.

If and when we move to Beziers, maybe mid July-mid August would be good for road tripping through the mountains. The rest of the years temps look very mild.

We'll be looking for a small house in Beziers. I'll make sure to find an insulated, double paned, heat pump air conned one, with a small pool.

Here in America, we have a crazy guy coming into power, who thinks climate change is a hoax.

Nope. Wrong conclusion. Kinda like  trumps cultists, saying they like their Affordable Care Act, but are ok with trump getting rid of Obamacare .

@orcuttnyc  I've lived in a village about 25 minutes from Beziers for 11 years.  Summers in this region are hot and as someone else wrote, winters are mild and, it seems, getting milder.  I found it difficult at first and tried different ways to escape July and August heat including making my annual trip back to the States during those months and renting a place in Brittany for a couple of months.  Then two years ago, I gave in and bought a small air conditioning unit. It's made a huge difference.

Nights are cooler--like California where I used to live--and certain activities are geared to that, night markets, for instance, during July and August.  And the beaches are close--albeit crowded in the summer.

All in all, it's not impossible.  And Beziers has improved dramatically in the last few years--thanks in large part to the mayor, Menard, despite his questionable politics.  Beautiful holiday fete and market, more and more good restaurants, pleasant squares and parks etc.  And it's not filled with tourists.

I don't live there yet but here are 2 circumstances that occur to me as someone who is relocating from Santa Fe  NM where this is also true. One is that by train one can easily reach the mountains  and Atlantic coast which is cooler. Second is that floor model ac units can be bought at Amazon France and perhaps other stores. They state how many square feet they cool.  I have used one in Santa Fe to cool a 200 sf solar studio successfully and they are also used to cool a local zen center.They require a window or door for venting but this is easy. I hope this helps.
