Adaptation of children (10 and 14) who don't write French

Hi,

We are considering a job offer for my husband in Grenoble. We have 2 children 10 and 14 years old. As I am French, they both speak decent French but cannot write it. I would welcome any advice from other parents who have been through this with their children (of similar age if possible), as I would like to understand the potential impact on their education and their integration/adaptation.
I know there are international schools in Grenoble, but the literature suggests that you need to be able to write French....
