Work with Tax ID but without Anmeldung?

angy77arca

Hello,

I'm a EU citizen and I'm soon starting to work in Germany (for 6 months, then the contract will be moved in a different country). I lived/worked in Germany in the past, so I already have a tax ID.

My question is: can I live and work in Germany for 6 months (having already the tax number) without registering again my residence?

Or it is not convenient because maybe in that way I would not have access to the public health insurance?

Thanks in advance!

@angy77arca It is a requirement (by law) that you register your residence with the authorities within two weeks of moving there. This is independent of tax or health insurance considerations and applies for everybody living in Germany. Not following this rule can lead to fines, and the registration sheet is also required for many other issues.
