Process of applying for Aufhenthaltstitel

Springbokke

Hi guys!

I have been issued a visa  for Partial Recognition of Vocational training of Section 16D of the Residence Act(I am a nurse)The visa expires  at the end of  August.I have made an appointment to have the visa extended, this falls on mid July 2024.I have most of the documents,However,my German B2 and extended work contract is pending.I have written the  German B2 exam and will probably only receive the results end of July.I am panicking now because i need to have my extended visa approved so that i can be paid accordingly at work, and also i want to take up a long term rental lease on a car,and i can only do that once i have a minimum of 1 year "permission to stay"/valid visa.

Question 1:Once i attend the appointment in July to have my visa extended without completed documents,is it possible to submit the work contract and language certificate online instead of making an entire new online application?Because the next available appointment in Frankfurt, being the city where i live is in November!!!!!!WHAT THE HELL???!!!

Question 2: My work agency suggested i request for a Fiktionsbescheinigung.Any idea how this will work?Do i then have to make an entire new online appointment when i have the completed documents?

Thanks a ton!!

Yes, German foreigners' offices are severly overworked and understaffed - waiting times of many months for mere appointments to submit documents are common.

Your agent is correct: In this case, you must request a "Fiktionsbescheinigung", which is basically a temporary extension of your current pass if procedures for a final extension take too long.

This "Fiktionsbescheinigung" gives you the same rights as the visa you have now, but of course it being temporary might not convince landlords or leasing companies to give you any longer-term contract. You also cannot travel to countries that want to be sure you return to Germany.

Just to add to what Beppi wrote, this is not a case of extending  a visa but a residency permit. People often conflate the 2 but it is much better to be clear. A visa allows one to enter a country, they are issued by German embassies or consulates, not issued in Germany to one already residing here. And one will always get the more exact information from officials directly. They can make decisions that are different than in another case.
