Somehow you have to clarify it with the foreign residents office (Ausländerbehörde). They make the rules. Anything anyone else says that contradicts what they say will be irrelevant. And the reality is that different offices can actually make different requirements. Some might require an integration course, others not. But they have to let you know what they require! They should give your a printed list of what is needed.

My tip is that for the B1 exam, you register in time - as well as for the interrogation course if needed. Usually the Volkshochschule is the best place for such things. Such things can have a window of opportunity to sign up for and be quickly booked out and one has to wait endlessly for the next chance. Seriously, if they say that a certain day is the first chance, then be there in line waiting before the office even opens, not a day or even hours later. Otherwise, it might be months before you have another chance.

As far as I know, the integration course is needed to become German citizen - not for a residence permit!

I got a following reply from Ausländerbehörde.

"ich verstehe Ihre Frage nicht. Die Entscheidung einen Integrationskurs zu besuchen liegt bei Ihnen. Sie sind hierzu jedoch nicht verpflichtet. Gesetzlich besteht Ihrerseits kein Anspruch auf Teilnahme. Sie können nur im Rahmen freier Kapazitäten auf eigene Kosten daran teilnehmen."

I could understand that it's not mandatory to be a part of integration course .

Please correct me if I am wrong.

Yes, it means your participation in an integration course would be voluntary (and at your own cost).
