Please narrow down your question! What town to live in depends on what kind of things one likes, small town or big town, nature or cultual aspects, what type of work one does etc.

Do you want to go there to work? Or longer vacation? Some more information would be needed to give you some advice :)

I like Trier, but have so far only visited it several times.
Why do you dislike it so much?
Maybe what you hate is o.k. for others, so please tell us more.

It depends very much on what you like and what your job is (seealso my article: ).

If you want to stay in a big city there various options:

Munich - The centre of German "Gemuetlichkeit"
Hamburg - The cool habour city in the north wihich has a surprisingly nice setting
Berlin - Bubbling city for young people
Cologne - Lively City in Germany's economic heartland with a massive church on the banks of the Rhine
Duesseldorf - Colognes rival eaqualy nice located at the Rhine
Dresden - Called Germany's Florence at the river Elbe

However, there are other nice places to be.

Best regards

Peter
