Having been sharing several accomodations in Berlin (4 mates) and Hamburg (9 and 7 mates), i must say that Stuttgart is a bit different.

Of course it is possible to find something on dedicated websites ( is the reference) but it is not so popular like in other German cities.

The first point is that there are not enough accomodations in Stuttgart which makes the rents more expensive and poeple move away.

For Students i would recommend the universtiy campus in Vaihingen which is a really nice area surrounded by a huge parc. But places are limited.

Modest revenues are likely to launch their own WG (or Wohngemeinschaft for shared accomodation) with one or two people in the surroundings.

Be aware that owners don't like student shared accomodations (Studentenwohnheim) because they are afraid of late rents, disturbance in the neighbourhood and damages of the accomodation.

Something very important anyway: never pay any money in advance until you haven't seen the accomadation and officially gets it. Be aware of fake adverts and estates in the Internet, it's not normal to be asked for money too early!

On you can find all adverts from which doesn't require any honorar. Beautiful accomodations are rare but you may find something that fits to you.

For higher revenues, the normal rate for honorars is 2,38 like everywhere elese in Germany. Think about asking your company to take these fees in charge because they may be able to deduct it from business charges.
